Specialist Profiles

Eyelid and periocular specialists

Shaoliang Wang, MD

Shaoliang Wang, MD (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Reconstructive & revision eyelid surgery · craniofacial contouring

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. He previously served as Deputy Chief of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, and brings more than two decades of tertiary-hospital surgical experience to his practice.

His work centers on the surgical care of the eyelids and the structures around them, with a particular focus on reconstruction and revision — restoring form and function when the eyelids have been affected by congenital difference, injury, tumour removal, or a previous operation that did not go to plan. He also leads craniofacial contouring and the correction of failed cosmetic surgery.

Clinical focus

  • Reconstructive and revision eyelid surgery after trauma, tumour excision, or congenital difference
  • Correction of eyelid position and function, including ptosis and lid malposition
  • Comprehensive eye-and-nose (periocular and nasal) aesthetic and reconstructive surgery
  • Craniofacial contouring (osteotomy) and facial rejuvenation
  • Scar repair and prevention, and repair of failed cosmetic operations

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Craniofacial Surgery Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Deputy Chair, Chongqing Medical Aesthetics & Beauty Committee
  • Standing Committee Member, Chongqing Medical Doctor Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Expert Panel, Chongqing Aesthetic Surgery Quality Control Center
  • Developed a new endoscope- and water-jet-assisted technique for removing injected polyacrylamide (Aomingding) breast filler; awarded the Wang Liangneng Cup Military Excellent Scientific Paper Award
  • Principal investigator on an international cooperation sub-project, a Chongqing Natural Science Foundation grant, and a Third Military Medical University technology-transfer project; published 4 SCI papers and holds 8 national invention patents

A hospital-based advantage

Reconstructive eyelid surgery often involves more than the lid itself. Practicing inside a tertiary general hospital means anaesthesiology, intensive care, imaging, and pathology support are available when a complex case needs them.

Tongchun Mao, MD

Tongchun Mao, MD (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Aesthetic eyelid surgery · periocular rejuvenation

Dr. Tongchun Mao is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its aesthetic surgery service at Chongqing West District Hospital. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, he has rooted his clinical practice for more than 20 years and personally performs over 700 operations a year.

His aesthetic practice covers the procedures that change how the eyes look — double eyelid surgery, upper and lower blepharoplasty, and periocular rejuvenation — planned around each person's anatomy rather than a single template. He is known for careful, meticulous technique and a natural, restrained aesthetic.

Clinical focus

  • Double eyelid surgery (suture and incisional methods) and revision
  • Upper and lower blepharoplasty, including eyebag surgery
  • Detailed facial-feature refinement and repair (eyelid, nose, chin, lip)
  • Aesthetic excision of superficial tumours and facial rejuvenation injections
  • FUE hair transplantation and body contouring

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Rhinoplasty and Trunk Tumor Groups, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Medical Aesthetics Quality Control Center; Member, Chongqing Medical Accident / Disability Assessment Expert Pools
  • Deputy Chair, Chongqing Shapingba District Medical Aesthetics Committee
  • Published 5 SCI papers, holds 7 national patents, and has participated in 4 research projects
  • Repeatedly named an "Outstanding Young Physician" at Xinqiao Hospital since joining in 2005

Anatomy first

Good eyelid aesthetics come from matching the plan to the eye's own structure — skin thickness, fat volume, lid opening strength, and brow position — rather than chasing a trend.

Ke He, MD

Ke He, MD (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Periocular pigment & eyelid-margin lesions · injectable rejuvenation

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service at Chongqing West District Hospital. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years, serving over ten thousand patients.

Her practice is especially relevant to the eye area: refined treatment of eyelid-margin and periocular pigment problems (such as eyelid-margin moles), early prevention and repair of scars, and injectable facial rejuvenation. She is known for tailoring plans to each person's skin colour, skin quality, and goals.

Clinical focus

  • Refined treatment of eyelid-margin and periocular pigment and moles, milia, and syringoma
  • Pigment conditions: freckles, melasma, age spots, and nevus of Ota
  • Acne, acne scarring, and early scar prevention and repair
  • Full-cycle anti-ageing skin management: barrier repair and injectable rejuvenation
  • Vascular conditions and full-cycle hair management

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Laser Medicine Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Facial Rejuvenation Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Plastic Surgery Quality Control Center
  • Published 5 papers, holds 5 national patents, and introduced 2 new clinical techniques

The skin around the eyes

The eyelid margin and the thin skin around the eyes need a gentler, more precise approach than the rest of the face. Laser, injectable, and scar-care planning here rewards conservatism and experience.

Yongbo Jia, MD

Yongbo Jia, MD (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatology · pigment & laser skin care

Dr. Yongbo Jia is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its dermatology service at Chongqing West District Hospital. A vice chief physician and licensed aesthetic attending, he graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and trained in dermatology at the Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and at Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

His dermatology practice supports the eyelid and periocular service by managing the skin conditions that often accompany or mimic eyelid concerns — pigment changes, benign skin growths, and the health of the skin around the eyes.

Clinical focus

  • Comprehensive pigment management: melasma, freckles, sun spots, café-au-lait, and age spots
  • Laser skin care, injectable aesthetics, mesotherapy, and chemical peels
  • Hair and scalp conditions, including hair loss and hair transplantation
  • Aesthetic excision of superficial moles, cysts, and haemangiomas; refined cosmetic stitching
  • Repair of appearance-damaging skin conditions

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Jiusan Society
  • Member, Chongqing Integrative Medicine Skin & Beauty Committee
  • Advanced training at the Institute of Dermatology (Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences) and Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Skin health underpins results

Healthy, well-managed skin around the eyes supports every surgical and laser plan. Managing pigment, texture, and benign growths is often the right first step before or alongside eyelid treatment.
